Next Family Vacation to Los Cristianos

Tenerife has plenty of attractions for holidaymakers looking for a good time – which is why hundreds of thousands flock to the Spanish destination, in the heart of the Canary Islands, every year.

The south coast of the island remains the place to head for those looking for sun, sea and sand, while the northern tip of Tenerife provides holidays with a bit of adventure, with Spain’s tallest mountain, lush greenery and slightly cooler temperatures in which to explore.

Los Cristianos is in the south of the island, and it provides a fantastic alternative to the busier neighboring resorts of Playa de Las Americas and Costa Adeje. An attractive port town, Los Cristianos is quickly developing into a contemporary tourist resort, despite the beautiful traditional architecture which comprises the town – and is noticeably absent in the busier nearby resorts. As a result, Los Cristianos offers a great combination – modern facilities in old town charm – complete with all-year sun and a mild climate.

While discovering Los Cristianos by simply wandering around its pretty streets makes for a great holiday experience, we’ve listed a few of the area’s highlights.

This resort has three beaches in total, although one of them has a fairly particular audience being a nudist beach! The other two are more family friendly, being the Playa de la Vistas beach and Playa de los Cristianos beach. Playa de la Vistas is one of southern Tenerife’s best, as well as being the largest in Los Cristianos. This blue flag beach stretches from the town’s harbour in the direction of party resort neighbour, Playa de las Americas. As well as a run of restaurant along the beach walkway, there are also three snack bars, changing rooms and toilets, plus excellent life guard safety, sunbeds to hire and a range of watersports equipment. Play de los Cristianos has a more intimate feeling. Located within the harbour walls and surrounded by the old town, it makes for a perfect way to while away an afternoon after a wander around the town.

Nightlife is better suited to couples here than the 18-30 crowd attracted elsewhere on the southern coast. While bars and discos are on offer, they are slightly more sophisticated. There is also a great variety of restaurants to suit families and older holidaymakers.

Get your pulse racing on a Los Cristianos break and entertain the kids (and adults!) by hitting the Go-karting track. The Karting Club de Tenerife is just a short bus ride from Los Cristianos and as well as having a spectacular track, has a range of five karts available to cater for age and experience of karters. When not hitting the track, you can watch your competitors and grab refreshments from the viewing terraces.

Finally, any little monkeys will love the Monkey Park, one of Tenerife’s best days out.  There is a free shuttle to the park from some hotels and a range of adorable animals from lemurs to chimpanzees. With hands-on activities appropriate for little ones and a cheap entrance fee, it’s a great way to spent an afternoon in the Los Cristianos region.
